About Casey’s Challenge:

Casey is 16 yrs old and was born with spina bifida, a birth defect that caused paralysis in his legs. He was the first student in Ohio to be included on his school track team using a racing wheelchair. Casey desires to see other individuals with physical disabilities healthy, active and participating in sports. Due to the high cost of equipment, many are unable to participate. Casey’s Challenge was started in 2010 as a way to raise funds for the Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio (ASPO) to purchase racing chairs for other students in Ohio, enabling them to participate on their school track teams. All proceeds of Casey’s Challenge will directly benefit ASPO.

Leaving a Legacy:

Casey’s parents, Brett and Lisa Followay, founded the Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio (ASPO) in 2009 to enable other individuals with disabilities in the State of Ohio the opportunity to participate in Paralympic sports. Since 2009, the organization has grown to offer eight sports and field eleven teams in Cleveland, Columbus, Akron, Wooster and Bowling Green. Sports include: Archery, Power Wheelchair Soccer, Sled Hockey, Swimming, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Softball, Wheelchair Track, and Wheelchair Rugby.
